We have had more and more educators reach out as enrolments are broken when children who have left, return and instead of using the 're-enroll' button, they edit the leaving date. This is very problematic as it creates a gap enrolment, from the date the child left to the date the child returns. That attendance is then floating and if an emergency closure is applied during that time, the gap enrolment cannot just be deleted as all attendance must be 'Unknown' to do so. It has to be logged in JIRA for backend access to remove this error. Not to mention the possible funding implications for any centres who do not catch on to the gap enrolment with no attendance being entered.
It would be far more effective and less time consuming to disable the editing of the leaving date for past children to avoid this mistake entirely. Or at least pop up a warning before allowing the change to be saved, redirecting the admin/educator to the correct button - 're-enroll'.
