Report printing on one page (width)
in progress

Hi team,
There have been numerous requests from centres regarding the frustrations of the printing capabilities in Discover where the width of the reports generated in Discover should be able to fit onto one page, but will print over multiple pages. In turn, many admin staff have been using much more paper than they need to and having to staple/tape pages together side by side to read them properly.
Please look into having the ability to format PDF reports into one page to be able to print.

This is also an ongoing issue with the Weekly Staff Roster Details report.
This week it has printed 5 staff members on the first page, where 7 could easily fit. Then it has printed 5 on the second page and a third page just for the manager signature.
Even if it didn't move 2 staff from p2 to p1 there is ample space (and then some) to print the manager signature box onto the 2nd page.
It's especially odd because the top and side margins are so narrow that if i tried to print something with these margins out of an Office programme my computer would warn me that they're too small and might not print and yet the bottom margin is set to more than 1/4 of a page. It doesn't make sense at all.

We're working our way through all of the support queries raised for this item and unforunately, each report needs fixing individually.
To provide some context as to how this happened, we've had a piece of code that was a workaround for Google Chrome to try and "force" most reports print on one page where possible. Google Chrome fixed the original problem (that we had a workaround in place for) thereby ignoring our code to "force" printing on one page.
We have fixed some already, and are taking lead from our support team on which ones we should be prioritising. If you have the capacity, please try and change the print settings to just print the first page, or flip and reuse the spare extra sheet of paper, that would be awesome. In the meantime, we'll try our best to get the remainder of the reports fixed asap.

Matt Easterbrook: I think this post is not in relation to the Chrome issue of printing the extra page at each end of reports, but more so the reports that should be fitting on one page, but due to the layout of the reports, there is wasted space at the bottom of the first page, and it is continued and printed on the second page, even though there would be plenty of room on the first. Eg we've printed sign in sheets previously, and even though there was plenty of space on the bottom of page one, the report put one child on page 2. So we printed a whole extra page when realistically the space was there on page 1, but the report was set for obvious size restrictions.
Even our sleep charts - they could easily fit two on a day as we only have a few sleepers, however each day has a new page. (This works for me, as I then photocopy the supervision times underneath for each day) but same principle, there could be more printed per page.

Emma Riley: Ah - some reports I've audited will be fixed up in the fixes we're doing for the one-blank-page bug, however there's additional reporting work that we're doing that
should
make printing and exporting easier overall :)C

Hi - from all these comments and votes along with the comments on the Facebook Discover Childcare Admin Support, can this please be escalated. We have all been waiting for this to be fixed for many months now and unless I have missed that it is due in the next release, it is still happening as at todays date 23/02/23.

agreed! Huge problem and a massive waste of precious resources.

Same here.
1) We are currently still printing the sing in sheets for parents to sign and are unable to adjust the row height which means that the parents' signatures overlaps. I would like the option to change the row heights as with the other reports.
2) Wasted space at the bottom of the page, would like the report to continue right to the bottom.
3) AM PM Check - we do not need those extra columns just a place to record sign at the bottom and also not so squished up.
4) As for the other reports, like some users mentioned, even if I change the settings to landscape, it still prints in portrait and cuts of the data (even when preview is perfect).

Absolutely. We print the balance reports and have to remember to change the row height to 2x for certain licences and this in turn means it takes up more room on a page. A 2 page report can turn into 4 or more.

also, the waste of space at the top and bottom creates 2 pages often instead of one.

Hi,
Thank you for your valuable feedback.
What happens now? Your request is left in 'Open' for others to vote and comment on. After that, it will be moved to 'Under Review' or our 'Backlog'.
Top feature requests (based upon number of votes) will be reviewed by the Discover Team each quarter as we aim to prioritise your requests into our annual roadmap.

Absolutely, for our sleep chart, I print the names, and then put it back in the printer and photocopy the time check section onto each page.
